Calendar year 2018 has finally arrived and with it comes a new edition of What's New – complete with updates on nearly all the changes for the new model year. Headlining the changes are the all-new second-generation LEAF, the all-new Nissan Kicks and some exciting new technologies in support of Nissan Intelligent Mobility, a global initiative that focuses on how Nissan vehicles are driven, powered and integrated into society.
And, to help you through the dark days of winter, the hot-selling blackout treatment Midnight Edition lineup has expanded to nine nameplates – including the snow-worthy Titan, Titan XD and Frontier 4x4s.
This January update adds information on the 2018 Maxima, Rogue, Rogue Sport, GT-R, Titan, Titan XD, Sentra, Murano, NC200, NV Cargo and NC Passenger vans – and previews the upcoming Nissan Kicks, which made its debut at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. Information on the Rogue Sport will be added at a later date.
You'll also find previously released details on three new technologies – ProPILOT Assist, Rear Door Alert (RDA), Intelligent Rearview Mirror (I-RVM) and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB).
The all-new 2018 Nissan Kicks, the newest entry in the fast-growing affordable compact crossover market, becomes the sixth member of the Nissan crossover and SUV line-up – which has experienced record sales in recent years. It hits Nissan U.S. dealerships in June 2018.
The new 2018 Kicks combines emotion and practicality by blending bold wheel arch fenders and high crossover stance with familiar Nissan design signatures, including a V-Motion grille, boomerang headlights and taillights and floating roof with a "wrap-around visor" look. Available exterior features include standard Intelligent Auto Headlights (I-AH) and available LED low-beam headlights with LED signature accents. The 2018 Kicks will be offered in a range of seven exterior colors – plus five two-tone combinations.
Inside, Kick's simple "Gliding Wing" dashboard design is dominated by a centrally mounted 7.0-inch full color display housing a comprehensive infotainment system with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone connectivity. For the ultimate audio experience, the Kicks SR Premium Package includes the new class-exclusive1 Bose® Personal® Plus sound system with a pair of lightweight 2.5-inch Bose®UltraNearfield™ neodymium speakers located inside the Kicks' driver's seat headrest. Among the other on-board technology, Kicks features an available Intelligent Around View® Monitor (I-AVM).
Every 2018 Kicks comes with a standard 1.6-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder with Continuous Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS). The engine is rated at 125 horsepower and 115 lb-ft of torque. Combined with a smooth, fuel-efficient Xtronic transmission. Kicks is offered in front-wheel drive only.
Safety, security and driver convenience features are strong points for Nissan Kicks. Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) is standard on all grade levels, along with seven air bags and RearView Monitor. Kicks SV and Kicks SR add Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The 2018 Nissan Kicks will be offered in three well-equipped models – Kicks S, Kicks SV and Kicks SR. Pricing for the 2018 Nissan Kicks will be announced closer to its on-sale date in spring 2018.
For the 2018 model year, the Nissan Maxima once again receives additional enhancements to its award winning design. Now in its eighth generation, which was completely revised just two years ago, Nissan's flagship sedan features standard Android Auto™ (in addition to standard Apple CarPlay™), a revised color palette including new Carnelian Red color and a new black accent added to its dramatic V-motion grille.
In addition, the popular Maxima SR Midnight Edition package features revised content – including the advanced Intelligent Driver Alertness (I-DA) system previously available only on the Maxima Platinum grade, making it an even better value than before.
Also, the 2018 Maxima carries over the late 2017 model year additions of standard Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (I-FCW) and Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) on all grade levels.
The 2018 Maxima is available in five well-equipped models: Maxima S, SV, SL, SR and Platinum – each equipped with a 300-horsepower 3.5-liter VQ-series V6 engine and performance-oriented Xtronic transmission.
For the 2018 model year, Rogue is on the move again – led by the addition of available ProPILOT Assist1technology, which provides assisted steering, braking and accelerating during single-lane highway driving. ProPILOT Assist is the foundation for the autonomous vehicles of the future, helping drivers stay centered in the lane, navigate stop-and-go traffic, maintain a set vehicle speed and maintain a set distance to the vehicle ahead. And, it is all done with a simple two-button operation. ProPILOT Assist is available on the 2018 Rogue SL grade as part of the Platinum Package.
Among the numerous other enhancements to the 2018 Rogue are:
The 2018 Rogue is offered in three well-equipped grade levels, S, SV and SL. All models are equipped with a responsive 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft or torque. The engine is matched with an advanced Xtronic transmission with standard Sport Mode and Eco switches.
The Nissan Rogue Sport, which joined the Nissan crossover and SUV lineup near the end of the 2017 model year, enters 2018 with just a few refinements to its optional package naming and content.
The new SV Technology Package (previously named the SV Premium Package) now includes the contents of the previous SV All-Weather Package, including Quick Comfort® heated driver's and front passenger seats, Remote Engine Start System with Intelligent Climate Control, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, fog lights, leather-wrapped shift knob and heated outside mirrors.
The SL Premium Package now includes the content of the previous SL Platinum Package – including Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Intelligent Lane Intervention (I-LI), and Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection.
Again in 2018, Rogue Sport shares many of the design, utility and technology attributes that have made Rogue Nissan's best-selling vehicle in the United States. Rogue Sport is slightly smaller, sportier and more affordable for younger, urban SUV buyers than Rogue. These buyers are looking for much more space than a compact sedan, while still seeking the maneuverability and fun-to-drive feel that Rogue Sport delivers.
The 2018 Rogue Sport is offered in front-wheel and Intelligent All-Wheel Drive configurations, and in three well-equipped grade levels – S, SV and SL. Rogue Sport is assembled in Kyushu, Japan.
Following last year's significant enhancements to the iconic Nissan GT-R – which included a refreshed look inside and out and 20 additional horsepower – the changes continue for the 2018 model year with the introduction of a new GT-R Pure model, the addition of Apple CarPlay™ to NissanConnectSM with Navigation and Services, and a new black "Kuro Night" color for the Premium Interior Package.
With a starting MSRP1 of $99,990, the 2018 GT-R Pure model is designed to be the most affordable of the four GT-R trim levels. The differences between the Pure and Premium grade, which is priced at $110,490, includes an 11-speaker Bose® audio system, Active Noise Cancellation and Active Sound Enhancement systems, and Titanium exhaust system.
The GT-R Track Edition, now in its second year of limited availability, is designed to deliver a higher level of performance than the GT-R Pure and Premium models and features elements of the flagship GT-R NISMO. The GT-R Track Edition retains the GT-R Premium model's 565-horsepower engine rating (versus the GT-R NISMO's 600-horsepower rating). It has a starting MSRP of $128,490.
The ultimate GT-R, the motorsports-inspired GT-R NISMO, is available in very limited numbers in North America. It features numerous motorsports-inspired technologies to enhance the car's performance through optimized aerodynamics, suspension and powertrain, creating a well-balanced machine at home on both the road and track2. The GT-R NISMO is priced at $175,490.

Vehicles covered by the new warranty, which includes basic and powertrain coverage, include all TITAN V8 gasoline-powered models and diesel and V8 gasoline-powered 2018 TITAN XD models.
When it was first introduced in 2016, the Nissan TITAN XD shook up the highly competitive full-size pickup segment in the United States and Canada with a bold design and capabilities that staked out a unique position in the segment between traditional heavy-duty and light-duty entries.
TITAN XD offers some of the effortless towing and hauling of the larger, more expensive heavy-duty trucks – including an available maximum towing capacity of 12,310 pounds and maximum payload capacity of 2,080 pounds (when properly equipped) – yet with fuel-efficiency and affordability closer to a half-ton pickup.
Now in its third year, the 2018 TITAN XD continues to stake out unique territory with a lineup that includes Crew Cab, King Cab and Single Cab body styles, two bed lengths, choice of a powerful Cummins® 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel or Nissan 5.6-liter Endurance® V8 engines, 4x4 or 4x2 drivelines and up to five well-equipped grade levels.
TITAN's truck innovation leadership continues with cutting-edge available towing, utility features and driving aids, including an Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, Trailer Sway Control (TSC), Tow/Haul Mode with Downhill Speed Control and a Trailer Light Check system that allows one-person hook-up operation – including checking turn signals, brake lights and running/clearance lights. Also assisting trailer hook-ups is the TITAN XD's RearView Monitor with Trailer Guides and available Intelligent Around View®Monitor (I-AVM).
For 2018, TITAN XD adds a new Midnight Edition Package available on Diesel Crew Cab SV and SL grade 4x4 models, providing a custom look straight from the factory. The 2018 TITAN XD Gas is available in a range of nine Crew Cab, five King Cab and four Single Cab drive and grade configurations.
The Nissan Sentra continues to be one of the brand's top sellers and most recognized nameplates – a mainstay in the compact sedan segment for more than 35 years and seven generations. For the 2018 model year, Sentra receives a number of enhancements designed to up its already strong desirability equation – including the continuation of the high value SR Midnight Edition Package introduced in mid-2017.

As the halo vehicle for Nissan's wide range of bold crossovers and SUVs, Murano expresses Nissan's advanced design direction – including its V-motion front end, LED signature boomerang lights and the unique "floating" roof.
There is more to the Nissan Murano than just design leadership, however. In 2017, for the third year in a row, Murano was named by U.S. News & World Report as the "2017 Best 2-Row SUV for the Money." Murano was also honored in the J.D. Power 2017 U.S. Automotive, Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) StudySM as the top vehicle in the Midsize SUV category.
For the 2018 model year, Murano receives a number of significant enhancements:
Responsive driving is once again provided by a 260-horsepower 3.5-liter DOHC V6 connected to an advanced Xtronic transmission.
The 2018 Nissan Compact Cargo is designed to help business owners navigate their way through the challenges of tight spaces and tight deadlines – combining a small exterior footprint and excellent fuel efficiency with a large cargo capacity and outstanding versatility.
For 2018, enhancements include:
Powering the front-wheel drive NV200 Compact Cargo is a 131-horsepower 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine matched with an Xtronic transmission.

The new model year also brings a simplified model lineup: 2.5 S, 2.5 SR, 2.5 SV, 2.5 SL and 3.5 SL (base 2.5 and 3.5 SR are no longer available) and revised option package content and availability. Among the new or revised option packages are the 2.5 SR Special Edition and 2.5 SV and 2.5 SL Technology Packages.
All of these enhancements, along with its dynamic exterior appearance, refined interior and long list of available safety, security and convenience features ensure that Altima will continue as one of the top choices for mid-size sedan buyers in 2018.
For 2018, the sporty Versa Note SR grade adds standard Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System and Easy Fill Tire Alert. The Versa Note SV grade adds the same new features as part of the SV Special Edition Package (previously named the SV Appearance Package). In addition, the SL grade is no longer offered and the S Plus grade is renamed the S grade.
Unchanged is the Versa Note's sporty hatchback design, which differentiates it from the Versa sedan – acknowledging that buyers are looking for an added level of style to go with a hatchback's 5-door utility.
Versa Note is offered in three well-equipped models: S, SV and SR. Versa Note SR offers a number of sporty exterior and interior treatments, including fog lights, rear spoiler, body-color side sills, suede-like seats, sport leather wrapped steering wheel, 16-inch machine-finished aluminum-alloy wheels and outside rearview mirrors with integrated turn signals.
The 2018 Nissan Frontier is first and foremost a workhorse – designed to tackle both professional and personal projects. Every Frontier starts with a full-length, fully boxed ladder frame, then adds a choice of two powerful engines – 4.0-liter DOHC V6 engine rated at 261 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque, or a 152-horsepower 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine (King Cab only) – mated to either a 5-speed manual (I4), 6-speed manual (V6) or 5-speed automatic transmission.
Enhancements for the 2018 model year include the addition of standard RearView Monitor across all models and updated base grade content – including standard air conditioning, cruise control, Bluetooth®Hands-free Phone System, 5.0-inch color display audio and Siri® Eyes Free.
In addition, a new Midnight Edition is offered on Frontier for the first time (late availability). The all-new Nissan LEAF further strengthens Nissan's position as the global leader in zero-emission electric vehicles. The best-selling electric car of all time has been completely reinvented for its second generation, combining greater range with a dynamic new design and advanced technologies to create the ultimate EV package. It goes on sale at Nissan in all 50 states in early 2018 with a starting MSRP of $29,9901.
The new e-powertrain boosts acceleration and excitement. ProPILOT Assist and e-Pedal driver assistance technologies make driving more enjoyable, helping enhance safety and reduce stress. Drivers of the new LEAF will feel more confident, excited and connected, while contributing to a sustainable smart-mobility society.
The 2018 LEAF offers a range of 150 miles2, allowing drivers to enjoy longer journeys than the previous-generation vehicle. The new e-powertrain is rated at 147 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque, providing improved acceleration and driver enjoyment.
The LEAF's revolutionary e-Pedal technology transforms the driving experience. It lets drivers start, accelerate, decelerate and stop by increasing or decreasing the pressure applied to the accelerator. When the accelerator is fully released, regenerative and friction brakes are applied automatically, bringing the car to a complete stop. The car holds its position, even on uphill slopes, until the accelerator is pressed again. The reactiveness of e-Pedal helps maximize driving pleasure.
The new Nissan LEAF's design includes a low, sleek profile that gives it a sharp, dynamic look. Along with excellent aerodynamics, the styling – from the sleek silhouette to the car's "advanced expression" – evokes the exhilaration of driving an EV.
Familiar Nissan design features include the signature boomerang-shaped lamps and V-Motion flow in the front. The flush-surface grille in clear blue and the rear bumper's blue molding emphasize its identity as a Nissan EV.
The LEAF's completely redesigned cabin is focused on the driver, featuring a front panel in the form of a "gliding wing." It combines an excellent use of space with functionality.
The interior design creates a relaxed ambience and premium quality feel, due to the carefully selected materials. Vibrant blue stitching in the seats, instrument panel and steering wheel has been incorporated as a symbol of Nissan's electric vehicles. The 7-inch, full-color TFT display has been redesigned for easier comprehension of key features – such as the Safety Shield technology, power gauge and audio and navigation system information. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have also been added.
Since the introduction of the all-new, second-generation design for the 2017 model year, Armada has set sales records month after month. As the flagship of Nissan's expanding lineup of SUVs and crossovers, the full-size family-adventure Armada features 8-passenger seating, a 5.6-liter Endurance® V8 with best-in-class1 standard maximum 390 horsepower and standard maximum towing capacity of 8,500 pounds for both 4WD and 2WD models (when properly equipped) 1.
For the 2018 model year, Armada adds standard NissanConnectSM Services powered by SiriusXM®, an 8-inch multi-touch control display, HD Radio, SiriusXM® Travel Link with three years of trial access (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately), Enhanced Voice Recognition, Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant, and additional USB ports for all grade levels.
And, for the first time on any Nissan vehicle, Armada Platinum and Platinum Reserve models include standard Intelligent Rear View Mirror (I-RVM), which uses a high-resolution camera mounted on the rear of the vehicle to project a clear image onto an LCD monitor built into the standard rearview mirror. A switch located at the bottom of the mirror allows the driver to access either the traditional rearview mirror system or the new Intelligent Rear View Mirror.
The new Armada Platinum Reserve takes the fully equipped Armada Platinum grade to the next level with a Dark Chrome exterior trim (front grille, door handles and outside mirrors) and 20-inch Dark Chrome wheels. Custom interior treatment includes two-tone leather-appointed seats with unique stitching, Black Quartz and premium wood tone interior trim and embossed "Platinum Reserve" emblem on the console lid.
Pathfinder, one of Nissan's best known and most popular nameplates in its nearly 60-year history in the United States, was extensively revised just last model year – with more adventure capability, a freshened exterior look and enhanced safety, technology, performance and style.
For 2018, Pathfinder adds additional new features, including standard Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), an enhanced Midnight Edition appearance package and an innovative Rear Door Alert (RDA)1system. Other changes for the new model year include two new colors – Scarlet Ember and Midnight Pine – standard Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) and NissanConnectSM with Navigation and Services on Pathfinder SL grade (previously standard only on Platinum grade), additional four USB ports (six total) and revised option package naming and content.
The Rear Door Alert1 system can help remind customers of items that may be forgotten in the rear seat – pets, valuables, dry cleaning, groceries and more. If the system detects that a rear door is opened prior to driving, and the customer does not open a rear door again at the end of the trip, the system can remind customers that something might be left in the rear seat. RDA is designed to be simple, unobtrusive and can be easily turned on or off as needed. After making its debut as standard equipment on all 2018 Nissan Pathfinder models, it will later be available on other Nissan models in the coming years.
The new Pathfinder Midnight Edition, which was first introduced late in the 2017 model year on the exclusive Platinum grade, has now moved to the more popular SL model (late availability). The engine is rated at 109 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque.
The SV Special Edition Package, introduced last year, features 15-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, fog lights, front fascia chrome accents, leather-wrapped steering wheel, 5.0-inch color display audio, SiriusXM®Satellite Radio (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately), Streaming audio via Bluetooth®, Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant, RearView Monitor and a Special Edition emblem.
For 2018, Nissan's iconic 370Z Coupe adds a number of significant enhancements – starting with a revised exterior that includes dark headlight treatment, dark tinted rear combination lights, new blackout rear lower fascia and new 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheel design.
Under the skin, the legendary 370Z driving experience has been enhanced through optimized acceleration and torque profile tuning. Without changing the engine's internal structure or components, engine performance is improved through careful refinement of Accelerator Pedal Opening (APO) and Throttle Valve Opening (TVO) angles. Manual transmission-equipped 370Z models feature new motorsports-inspired EXEDY® high-performance clutch.
In addition, for 370Z Coupe buyers wanting to stand out from the crowd even further, a new Heritage Edition package is offered on the base 370Z grade. The Heritage Edition is available in two exterior colors. The Chicane Yellow Heritage Edition features black outside mirrors, gloss black graphics and yellow interior trim. The Magnetic Black Heritage Edition includes gloss silver graphics and yellow interior trim.
Also, the new model year adds a bold new exterior color – Passion Red – to the 370Z Coupe color palette. For 2018, the 370Z NISMO Tech continues its role as the ultimate Z®. The changes for the 2018 model year are performance related. Dunlop SP Sport MAXX GT600 high-performance tires, which adopt the same tread pattern as the GT-R, replace the previous Bridgestone Potenza S001 tires. The new tires offer a 20 percent reduction in rolling resistance and a one-decibel reduction in road noise while maintaining the current handling performance.
Also, for 6-speed manual transmission-equipped 2018 370Z NISMO Tech models, driving response is further enhanced with the addition of a new EXEDY® high-performance clutch. The new EXEDY L-PEC (Light Pedal Effort Clutch) clutch was developed in part through EXEDY's longstanding relationship with Nissan Motorsports.
The 2018 370Z NISMO Tech is offered in one fully equipped model, 370Z NISMO Tech, with no options. It is available in a choice of two exterior colors – Magnetic Black and Pearl White.
The 370Z NISMO Tech's GT-R-inspired functional and fully integrated aerodynamic body pieces provide an aggressive and more aerodynamic appearance, along with optimizing front and rear downforce (versus non-NISMO 370Z models). The deep front fascia includes Hyper LED Daytime Running Lights, black headlight bezels, NISMO emblem and signature NISMO red stripe accents. In the rear is a unique NISMO rear spoiler. The standard 19-inch NISMO super-lightweight forged aluminum-alloy wheels by RAYS®feature a twin-five spoke design and a charcoal gray machine finish.
Inside, the unique NISMO-styled interior features black-and-red Recaro® leather-appointed seats with Alcantara® accents. The seats were designed with Recaro® specifically for the 370Z NISMO to provide more uniform body pressure and better all-direction holding during spirited acceleration, braking and cornering. The interior also features red seat trim and stitching with NISMO logo, an Alcantara®-appointed leather-wrapped steering wheel with red center stripe and NISMO red tachometer.
The 2018 370Z NISMO Tech is powered by a potent 350-horsepower 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine with Variable Valve Event and Lift Control (VVEL). The engine is matched with an exclusive, H-configured exhaust system design, muffler tuning and an optimized calibration is installed to help create 18 horsepower more than a standard 370Z Coupe. Torque is rated at 276 lb-ft.
Two transmission choices are offered on the Z NISMO Tech model. The close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission features standard SynchroRev Match®, while the refined 7-speed automatic includes Downshift Rev Matching (DRM), Adaptive Shift Control and manual shift mode with paddle shifters.

For 2018, the 370Z Roaster adds a number of significant enhancements – starting with a revised exterior that includes dark headlight treatment, dark tinted rear combination lights, new blackout rear fascia and new available 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheel design that is designed to reduce vibration by improving wheel balance.
Under the skin, the legendary 370Z driving experience has been enhanced through optimized acceleration and torque profile tuning. Manual transmission-equipped 370Z models (limited availability) feature new motorsports-inspired EXEDY® high-performance clutch.
Also, the new model year adds a bold new, vibrant exterior color – Passion Red. The Passion Red paint process uses a high brightness aluminum pigment in the base coat and Nano-pigment tinted clear coat to give it a vivid, jewel-like red color that looks different depending on the viewing angle. Other 2018 enhancements include two additional speakers for the base 370Z Roaster audio system.
The 370Z Roadster's convertible top features an easy, single-action open-close operation. The 2018 370Z Roadster's outstanding performance starts with a 332-horsepower 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine with Variable Valve Event and Lift Control (VVEL), matched with a choice of electronically controlled 7-speed automatic transmission with Downshift Rev Matching (DRM) and standard paddle shifters or a 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission with available SynchroRev Match®. The world is facing serious challenges such as air pollution, worsening traffic jams and frequent accidents. Nissan is committed to playing a role in addressing these challenges by making transportation safer, smarter and more enjoyable, with the ultimate goal of achieving zero-emissions and zero-fatalities. Nissan Intelligent Mobility is the roadmap to achieve this "zero-zero" future.
Guided by the vision of mobility for all, Nissan is democratizing these innovations by bringing them from luxury segments to affordable high volume models and ensuring everyone has access to the benefits. Nissan is making cars exciting partners for our customers.
Nissan Intelligent Mobility is not solely focused on autonomous vehicles - it is an initiative to differentiate Nissan by focusing on how our vehicles are driven, powered, and integrated into society. Some of these developments are not in the distant future – they are taking shape in the vehicles we drive today.
Nissan Intelligent Mobility encompasses three core areas of innovation:
Nissan Intelligent Driving helps to give customers more confidence through enhanced safety, control, and comfort for everyone on board. Driver Assist technologies can already be found in Nissan vehicles today, including the Japanese market Nissan Serena, the first model produced to feature ProPILOT Assist technology and will be joined by the European model Qashqai in fall 2017, along with the all-new, second-generation Nissan LEAF near the beginning of 2018.
Nissan Intelligent Power makes driving more exciting for customers by continuing to reduce emissions and increase fuel economy. Nissan is committed to a holistic approach to achieving zero-emission mobility by making internal combustion engines more efficient and putting more advanced technologies into our electric vehicles.
Nissan Intelligent Integration keeps customers more connected by conveniently linking Nissan cars to the wider society. Nissan is helping to shape a sustainable ecosystem enabling cars to interact with people, other cars and road infrastructure. This approach will eventually lead to remote vehicle operation, reduced traffic jams, more efficient car sharing, and improved energy management.
Nissan's new ProPILOT Assist eases driver workload by reducing the amount of driver acceleration, steering and braking input under certain driving conditions. To activate the system, the driver simply pushes the blue ProPILOT Assist ON button, which is integrated into the right-side steering wheel spoke. Step two is to set the Intelligent Cruise Control when the desired speed is reached, as with a normal advanced cruise control system.
When lane markers are consistently detected, steering assist engages and the steering wheel/lane marker icons on the instrument panel turn green. Both right and left hand markers need to be detected by the front camera. Steering assist will engage or disengage depending on the visibility or presence of lane markers, though the Intelligent Cruise Control will remain active.
If the vehicle comes to a complete stop in a traffic jam situation for more than three seconds, the driver just presses the resume button or taps the accelerator pedal to begin moving again.
The new Rear Door Alert (RDA)1 system can help remind Nissan owners to check the rear seat by using a series of distinctive honks as the driver is walking away from the vehicle. The audio alerts distinguish the Nissan RDA from other systems in the marketplace. The new RDA feature debuts as standard equipment on the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder SUV and will be available on other Nissan models in the coming years.
RDA monitors the rear door switches to detect their open/closed status prior to and after a trip. If the system detects that a rear door was opened/closed prior to a trip, but then was not re-opened again after the trip was completed, given the vehicle was put in park and the ignition cycled off, the system responds with a series of notifications, starting with a display in the instrument panel and progressing to subtle but distinctive chirps of the horn.
Because there are so many scenarios when a driver might open a rear door, from throwing in a gym bag to cleaning the car, the RDA system is easily configurable and can be turned off temporarily or permanently through prompts in the cluster display.
Nissan's new Intelligent Rear View Mirror (I-RVM)1 adds a built-in LCD monitor within the traditional rearview mirror to help provide clear rearward visibility unimpeded by traditional obstacles such as cargo or tall passengers. The 2018 Nissan Armada is the first Nissan vehicle to offer the new I-RVM technology. I-RVM is standard on the Armada Platinum and Armada Platinum Reserve.
The I-RVM system utilizes a high-performance, narrow-angle camera and a specially shaped LCD monitor, with a unique aspect ratio of approximately 4:1, versus conventional monitors' 4:3 or 16:9. The camera projects a clear image onto the monitor for a better view, as well as a more comfortable driving experience.
The high-quality camera and image processing system implemented in the LCD monitor consistently results in a clear image with minimal glare, even during sunrise or sunset conditions or when the vehicle is being followed by a vehicle with strong headlights.
